Week 2: Internet and WWW

The internet and eCommerce will play a large part in this project. Being a website, it will be accessed by users over the internet. The majority of the services offered will be based over the internet, thus requiring internet connection to access these services.

eCommerce will also play a large part in the product. Although most services are free, there will be a payed service. For a one time fee, users will be able to download a piece of software that will examine their music library. Once examined, the software will interact with the site's database, and will provide a list of information for the user on album release dates and band information (according the music they have on their computer). The software will warn the user when a new album of their liking is going to be released, and will also include a calendar to mark when these releases are. Since the money transactions will be done over the internet, an Authorize.net account will be needed, as well as all the other necessities of online transactions.

The site will follow effective web site strategies. That is, it will be well designed with technology, content, and management in mind.

Week 1: Introduction to Computers

For my entrepreneurial idea, I have decided to come up with a site that deals with album release dates. The main feature of the site is for the user to easily view the release date of an artist or bands upcoming album. The user will be able to search for a desired band/artist, and the site will display the: 1) Release date and title of their upcoming album, 2) Their current albums, 3) Links to purchase any of their current albums.

The market for this site is wide ranged, due to the amount and diversity of the content. Anybody who enjoys and acquires music will find this site to be of use. Since the site will cover all genres and types of music, the market for the site will span all demographics.

The main issue that this site addresses is the speed at which a user can find out an album release date. In the past, to find a band's upcoming album date I would have to search a site such as wikipedia or lastfm, and scroll down to the album data. On a site such as wikipedia, where users create the articles, the location of information (such as album info) changes from article to article. This makes it annoying to consistently search for release date information This site would cut out that step, and put the album information at the tips of the user's fingers.
